The market town of Oswestry with it’s ancient hillfort is only 3 miles away.

Historic Chester, Shrewsbury, Llangollen and the lakeside town of Ellesmere are within 30 minutes drive.

National trust venues: Chirk castle, Powys castle, Erdigg Hall and Attingham Park are easily accessible.

Other local attractions include the world heritage Pontcysyllte aqueduct, Offa’s dyke path, Pistyll Rhaedr waterfalls, Lake Vrynwy, Llanymynech heritage centre and Shropshire Union canal.

Family days out in the area include Park Hall Countryside Experience, The British Ironworks, BeWILDerwood, and Chester Zoo

The seaside towns of Aberdovey and Barmouth are an easy 90 minute drive away

Sweeney Farm is located at the gateway to Wales and within easy reach of the Snowdonia national park

Local Shopping:- Llynclys Hall Farm shop, Oswestry indoor market (Wed and Sat) and several well-known supermarkets in Oswestry

Local pubs and restaurants:- The White Lion and The Original Ball are the closest pubs and serve a good selection of drinks and pub grub. The Stonehouse Brewery brews its own beer, makes their own range of cider and gin and serves great food. Pop into Oswestry for a nice lunch/dinner at The Townhouse or The Wynnstay Hotel or for great pizza try Ambers Woodfired Pizza. Oswestry also has a large selection of takeaways that can be delivered to your door.

Local Activities

Walking :- local footpath right from the door connects Sweeney Mountain with the Shropshire Way. The Shropshire union canal is on our doorstep and offers many walking routes on their footpaths. For a more challenging hike try climbing some our local Marilyn Hills, e.g. Rodneys Pillar, Gyrn Moelfre, Allt y Main, Cadair Berwyn.

Canoeing:- Take a leisurely paddle through Shrewsbury on the river Severn or if you have a head for heights try canoeing over the World heritage aquaduct

Horse-riding:- Try a group hack through the beautiful local countryside and woodlands at the local horse riding stables

Adventure sports :- Paddleboarding, white water rafting, axe throwing, quad bike riding, river tubing, canyoning, go-karting and paint balling.

Brewery tours and gin tasting/distilling

Golfing :- There are 3 golf courses within 3 miles of us :- Llanymynech Golf Club, Mile End Golf Club (also has driving range), Oswestry Golf Club
